On Growing Old - John Masefield
Friday, 13 August 2010, 11:04 AM
[ Mood: Angelic ]
On Growing Old
Be with me, Beauty, for the fire is dying;
My dog and I are old, too old for roving.
Man, whose young passion sets the spindrift flying,
Is soon too lame to march, too cold for loving.
I take the book and gather to the fire,
Turning old yellow leaves; minute by minute
The clock ticks to my heart. A withered wire,
Moves a thiun ghost of music in the spinet.
I cannot sail your seas, I cannot wander
Your cornland, nor your hill-land, nor your valleys
Ever again, nore share the battle yonder
Where the young knight the broken squadron rallies.
Only stay quiet while my mind remembers
The beauty of fire from the beauty of embers.
Beauty, have pity! for the strong have power,
The rich their wealth, the beautiful their grace,
Summer of man its sunlight and its flower.
Spring-time of man, all April in a face.
Only, as in the jostling in the Strand,
Where the mob thrusts, or loiters, or is loud,
The beggar with the saucer in his hand
Asks only a penny from the passing crowd,
So, from this glittering world with all its fashion,
Its fire, and play of men, its stir, its march,
Let me have wisdom, Beauty, wisdom and passion,
Bread to the soul, rain when the summers parch.
Give me but these, and though the darkness close
Even the night will blossom as the rose.
John Masefield

Slang Dictionary
blogging definition
1. n. - making an entry into a weblog or blog = online diary. : When John said he was busy blogging, Sally said he should get a life!
I'm thinkin' John informed Sally that he had a life and that, perhaps, she should get a life! ( Even if he didn't he should have.)
Cindy's Dictionary
blogging definition
1. sentence(s)- the upside = blogging is sharing that part of you, which only best friends and family know about, and spewing that information into the universe. The downside = it's all out there! Think about the future generation. You'll never live it down - even after you're dead.
Note: Even though I have a full plate today, I've decided to take the rest of the day off and play.
Some of this diatribe is my truth; the rest is tongue-in-cheek.

Before I joined PDB five years ago I said I would never, ever, create a blog. I lied. During that time I've been blogging willy-nilly. Things change. Stuff happens. Today is a new day!
FYI: when I began blogging our webmaster posted a message regarding the blogs; in it he mentioned he didn't want his website to be known for them. I understood then and still do today. The only problem I have with that message now is: imho the web site seems to be going to Hades in a handbasket. So, PDB may as well be known for something! Therefore, it is my hope that other contributing members who post in all the forums, and enjoy blogging, will join in. United, perhaps, we will be able to get this puppy back on its feet. I realize it is not our responsibility to save it, though I really do dislike the idea of this "thing" croaking. Why? Because I'm selfish and this is the only website where I feel comfortable when I blog! It's all about me!!
I am fully aware that what I have said above and what follows may be held against me in a court of law, and that I've crossed boundaries: "I've been thrown out of better places than this."
Truly, in the past we all have and continue to work hard for ourselves and are able to do so because of this website. At least that's my truth.
More to come, unless....

Most would never admit it, or they hide it from themselves, but everyone can sense God within.
And once admitted, they can sense God in others.

Thoughts at 4:15 PM ~ e-time
Thursday, 29 July 2010, 12:29 PM
This has been one of my fuzzy and out-of-focus days!
Crackheads have more focus than I do.
Cleaned up my computer and now it's slower than it was before I cleaned it. And, to boot, my cursor has taken on a life of its own.
Am I on Twitter?
Peace out ~ Cindy ~

[ Mood: Angry ] [ Currently: Listening to Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers ]
I subscribe to an inspirational website called TUT.com. I received this a few weeks back and wish to share it with you today:
On the bright side:
never in peace time history has there been such a gallant effort, by so many people, spending so many billions of dollars with no end in sight, to rapidly clean up our environment.
Never before have numerous heads of state and representatives of a corporation as large as many smaller nations, pledged to work together, sharing expertise and resources to get a job done.
Never before have so many prayer and meditation groups suddenly formed, amongst and in between every religion and those belonging to none, to foster healing of our precious planet.
Never before have finger pointers, conspiracy theorists, and blame mongers been so idle and unnecessary in the face of such a tragedy.
Never before have industry titans across every sea chosen to reexamine their own safety procedures, revisit their own environmental safeguards, and expend their own fortunes to voluntarily reflect upon and demand that they do an even better job from this day forward.
And to top it all off, our planet has a loving, brilliant consciousness all her own, and of her countless balancing acts, healing herself is one in which she truly shines.
Of this, and so much more, we can be very, very proud. Little can ease the suffering or stem the pain over lives lost and careers halted, but human nature is every bit as resilient and courageous as mother Earth, and we are simply awed by what we see unfolding from here. All hail...before God and humankind.
Peace ~ Cindy ~

[ Mood: Amused ]
When I woke up this morning I didn't have squat to post on this blog, though while I was enjoying performing my morning chores, I did had a few epiphanies:
What transpired while cleaning the stove and, at the same time, complaining about how the resident chef forgot to clean it after cooking last night:
I'm really not a “control freak” as those who shall remain nameless, except for the person I call husband, have been suggesting for way too many years!
Regardless of where it lurks, real dirt bothers me. So, it makes sense to me that if I always clean up what has accumulated overnight, including dust, in the long run I will gain the free time I crave.
I'm not clueless to the fact that some (IMHO a humongous amount) people do not appreciate clutter. You may think of clutter as disorder, though I tend to not obsess about either. So; I'm thinkin' clutter can be restored, dependent, of course, on how disorderly or cluttered our stuff becomes.
I experienced another breakthrough while reading the morning paper, watching CNN at the same time, and then checking the online news. (Don't even bother, I know what you're thinking!)
What? I like keeping up with what's going on around me and in the world so, when something is amiss, I'm rarely surprised.
The thought-up and absurd idea of political thinking screws up the world. So, it has occurred to me that by applying my dirt theory to both politics and news it might result in a real breakthrough, thereby benefiting mankind. I could say “fat chance!”, but I won't because I refuse to lose faith.
Rehashing **dirt:
When it comes to cleaning, some of my friends and siblings insist I inherited a freak gene. Whatever!
I used to wonder why some people bust their buns, cleaning like fools, when they have company coming?
Again, dear readers, my dirt and clutter theory applies!
(**My precious grandma's exact words,“If people are comin' to see what my house looks like, then they're not my friends, and obviously not relatives, and aren't welcome. So there!”)
To Tony Hayward – the guy with no ethics who used to work at BP:
Be careful what you wish for. Enough said and that's just my opinion.
That's all. I will communicate with you at a later date!
Peace ~ Cindy ~
Footnote: The resident chef was standing in the kitchen this morning, and alas, all my complaining was lost when I realized he had failed to put his ears in this morning, when the above mentioned cleaning remark occurred! I hate it when that happens!

All About Me - for the most part
I started writing (what my mouth has been running & what my mind has been thinking for awhile) about five to six years ago.
I wrote journals/diaries for a long time, while growing up. Alas when I broke out of my 'shell', I failed to take them with me. One day, when I returned home to retrieve them, I found out that my "smarter brother" had retired them to the attic and that later on in his pathetic life, decided they weren't as important to him as they were to me so he threw them out. See how he screwed up my life? But, that's another story
I've forgotten some things, though as you've read above, I never forget other things.
I invite constructive criticism and abundant praise.
Enjoy my blog!!

Hey Cindy, I'm sure you know what a "drugstore cowboy" is . . . but do you know the difference between a REAL cowboy and a drugstore cowboy? Answer: the REAL cowboy has the horse-manure on the OUTSIDE of his boots!
