Site Heroes
The "heroes" list is automatically generated once per hour. It is our way of saying "thank you" to the members who are giving back to the community. Here's how it works.
Every hour, the server scans the database for all activity over the past 90 days. It assigns a certain number of points to each member, based upon their activity. The "activity" can include adding a new market (usually a magazine), updating a market listing, rating a market (only available to those who use our Tracker), and moderating changes (approving/rejecting proposed changes). Plus, the server will add a few bonus points for members who have subscribed.
As you might guess, members who have recently added a lot of new markets or made a lot of updates are typically at the top of the list.
How can members participate?
To add a new market, use the "Add new market" link on the left side. To update a market, use the edit links that appear in a market listing. To rate a market, you have to use the "Initiate query" and "Close query" links in the left-side navigation. To moderate changes (probably the easiest option), simply view the list of pending changes on the right side of the home page, pick an entry, and then approve/reject the change, depending upon your best judgement.
How do they get their homepages to show?
While in the forum, click the "profile" link near the top of most forum pages. In your profile, you will see a field for your Web site URL. That's what is used.
